Studied the genre of ode using "Ode of Remembrance" by Laurence Binyon, "Ode to My Socks" by Pablo Neruda, and "Ode to the Hymen"
by Sharon Olds. Noted conventions of the ode: praise/idealization of
subject, lofty language, apostrophe, development of a broader
significance.
Modeled the development of ode content by describing and praising a recycling bin.
